White Saddle
The spaniel and I got horribly lost on Ashdown Forest this morning. We were walking in an area that I've only been to once or twice before and, in torrential rain, took a couple of wrong turns. A two hour walk ended up being nearer three. On the plus side I came across a small glade in which there were dozens of these White Saddle (Helvella crispa) fungi. Previously I've found them growing in ones or twos but this particular area must have had had more than a hundred. Unfortunately I'll never be able to find the same spot again.
