It's a Sign I Tell You.

Normally if I'm partaking of beer on a Friday I might post an image in here of the act or the location. Today is an exception, it is still pub/beer related but of a place that I don't frequent even though it is technically the closest pub to home.

From the sign it might be construed that Joseph Pearce was the first occupier of the bar given the date of 1898, however the the Ordnance Survey maps of 1877 show a public house on this site.

Not sure exactly how old the sign is, whether it is aged naturally or it has been 'distressed' to look older.
