Autumn woods

It's the best time of year to admire the National Trust woodlands at Stagshaw, near Ambleside.  It has a Tree Trail and is home to the Champion Tree, a Grand Fir measuring 58m high.
This afternoon I had a run through Beckmickle Ings Wood and stopped to wonder at the fungus Dead Man's Fingers.  An interesting time of year!
