Who's Looking?

In the middle of the wall is a window.
In the middle of the window is a web.
In the middle of the web is a spider
whose hopes begin to ebb

when she sees from the middle of her cobweb
through the middle of a pane of glass
in the middle of a big pink human face
two eyes stare, bold as brass.

It's rained and rained all day long. The only photos I took were through windows, but this was my favourite. I would not have looked quite as closely if there hadn't been a pane of glass between us.
