VAR
Tonight I watched my first "big" game of the season - Hibs vs St Johnstone at Easter Road. As it happened, it was the first club match in Scotland at which VAR was to be used. After the first VAR decision, a Hibs player was booked for diving in the penalty area. I should have taken this as an omen for the evening. The second use of VAR came when Hibs scored the first goal after the messages "Complete" and "Decision Goal" were flashed up. For the first 70 minutes Hibs was dominant, and had chances to go two-up. However, a second yellow card saw Hibs go down to ten men, who then capitulated. Two goals from St Johnstone won the game, thanks to a late Hibs penalty decision being ruled out by VAR due to offside.
Earlier, after a dog walk that was only wet underfoot, I'd had a busy day, getting ready to release a new version of our software.
