Belted Kingfisher

Perched on a sign, 'Be Alert' in the Plantation Community Park - she was alert for sure; a beautiful belted kingfisher. There was no sneaking up on her from where I was as there was no cover but at least I got a few shots. A lucky find.

The last belted kingfisher I saw was in Costa Rica but here it was totally unexpected especially as I've been up and down this stretch of water numerous times.. It was only that I followed the call as she screeched past not knowing what it was and took a very distant shot for ID that made me hot foot it in her direction. 

Off out tonight for a Hibachi up in Coral Springs and we have a babysitter!! Yay!
