Emily and Kitten
Today was definitely a day for a "Grab Shot".
I had been tasked with getting Emily to school this morning...the first day of the new term. We had hoped to walk but torrential rain and thunders storms overnight continued on into the morning.
Before we left in the car, I captured this image of Emily with "Lily", her kitten. Lily is not looking too happy at having to pose. She wanted to get away to play with Emily's Sylvanian Families which are set up in whole villages in the livingroom. The tiny bits and pieces are just the right size for a small active kitten to steal and hide under the furniture.
Then there is Emily's knitting. She has little balls of wool out for various projects and kittens and wool are made for each other.
We bred kittens like Lily for over twenty years. They are Birmans, the Sacred Temple Cats of Burma and are amazingly affectionate. Some also love wool to a disastrous extent. We have had cats that ate wool. It is very disconcerting for owners to find big holes in their socks which are not just caused by wear and tear. It is even more disastrous when a visitor finds a freshly chewed hole in the front of an expensive woollen jersey. Having a cat that eats wool cerainly makes an owner very tidy!
I am wondering if I will get home to Blenheim today. I am booked with the car on the 2.30pm ferry. I am keeping my fingers crossed that weather out in the Cook Strait will not be so bad that ferry crossings need to be cancelled.
There is surface flooding in parts of Wellington and the suburbs and the City Council is urging people not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary. We will have to see....
