The Little Mermaid

The Minx suggested that we walk across to see the statue of the Little Mermaid, this evening, which is to be found at the Langelinie Promenade. Given the time of year, the sun had set by the time we set off, and it was dark when we arrived at the edge of Kastellet.

To be honest, there was not much in the way of lighting - just the occasional streetlamp - and it all looked a bit forbidding. And yet, there was a woman pushing a pram, a couple of friends walking together quite carelessly, a young woman out running on her own. Maybe there was nothing to worry about?

Well, I felt a little anxious, nonetheless, but we walked through the trees along the promenade, passing plenty of other people, until we found ourselves at the statue, which looked quite lovely (and tragic) sat there on the rock.

And, without wishing to diminish the experience, that was all there was to see, so after that we walked back and had excellent tapas in the restaurant next to the hotel.
