Woodung Village and Volcano

Volcano climbing. A mad motorbike ride up a disappearing track and slog through teak trees, racing threatening clouds. Glimpses of the archipelago, mauve ridges against silver sea and blue sky, and a crater spouting sulphur gas at the top. Ochre, violet, lichen, primrose rocks and wafts of gas and cloud floating over. We just beat the cloud.

This is the end of the ailment free holiday. I do my knee in coming down, again. The amoeba ate the muscles and I'm still, despite my determination, a weakling. I insist on walking a little too much of the road down, and by the time we get home am barely limping.

Afternoon watching the sea and eating chocolate biscuits. It's bliss.
