Little Egret
We walked along the Stover Canal today, after starting our walk at Hackney Marshes. The official birdwatcher was in stunning form. 35 species. My job was to write them down, at our stops at the Passage House Inn and the Locks Bridge Cafe. In a purple patch of 15 minutes we saw a dipper, a grey wagtail, and bird of the day- a great white egret which later the OB, entirely confident in her skills, recorded on the Devon Birds website. We also saw kingfishers on a few occasions. It rained quite a bit but it couldn’t dampen the spirits. Little egrets were plentiful near the inn, as above.
