Suilven

Yesterday I had a nudge on Twitter from my friend Stevan in NW Sutherland, with a photo of Suilven which he obligingly called the second best mountain in Assynt.

Stevan and I have a longstanding disagreement. He thinks the best mountain is Quinaig. I and all persons of discrimination know that Suilven is the Best Mountain In The whole World. Not the tallest. It doesn't yodel. It's just best.

Anyway, when Edward Neatby was on his painting tour of NW Scotland it was Suilven he painted, not Quinag. So there. He exhibited it at the Royal Academy in 1938. And then he came and hung it on our wall.
