Mt Ngauruhoe
I woke up this morning (in Ohakune where I have been for a presentation) and heard the sound of cars on a wet road. All good I thought, that means it hadn't snowed, until I looked outside. About 15cm - everywhere!
Beautiful, but at the same time - bugger! I had to drive back to Auckland, and with all the roads closed my 3.30 flight was looking not likely.
Anyway, we went ahead with our meeting to tidy up a few issues and then by 10am the road had been cleared and was open. So off I went. Stunning, snow everywhere and the weather even cleared up. As I got around to National Park Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe were looking particularly fantastic, here's Ngauruhoe.
Then I continued my race North to try and catch the plane, unsure of what to expect in road conditions. Turned out it was all fine, and I even made it to the airport with 30 minutes to spare, only to find the plane was delayed an hour.
So made it home, very tired after 3 long days away! Will back blip them soon.
