Establishing the pecking order

The cockerel is settling in, but the ladies were keeping their distance when I popped up to the allotment at lunchtime.
A quick check around the plot and some watering in the polytunnel.  No need for any watering outside, the rain gauge was off the scale and almost overflowing.  The saffron seems to be enjoying the weather and is growing well (see extra). From the 20 corms, there are 18 growing well and the alien, which isn't a bad return.
