Finsthwaite Tower

We brought the Tuesday morning lot up here to view the finished staircase inside the tower but the entrance was padlocked. The new private owner bought this patch of Summerhouse Knott in 2015 from the Lake District Park Authority and has spent a lot of money renovating the tower and adding memorials to long past naval battles. He  wants the site to ‘honour all those whose valour has been lost in the midst of time’ and has erected beautiful slate memorials. (Which you can see in a previous Blip)  Apparently there will be "managed " public access but not on this wet Tuesday in October.
