Steam trains

Wandered into town for a look round the market and a nice cup of coffee and cake. The traffic on the main road to the coast was tailed back to the lake so decided against getting the car out.

Walked the dogs round the short train route (too warm for Forrest to go further) and stood and watched the trains again.

This is the Mayflower, on loan to the Moors Railway for the weeks 40th anniversary celebrations. There was a second train at the other end pulling the carriages one way and then they changed over. Was told the trains travel backwards out of the station as there is a steep incline towards Goathland and its easier on the engines - not sure if this is correct, but have always wondered.
