The train from Waterloo station took us directly to Alton in Hampshire.

Some of my ancestor left this market town to settle in NZ in the early 1840’s.

It was lovely visiting St Lawrence church where family were married, buried in the churchyard and no doubt many were baptised here too.

My blip today is the font used in the church today and the extra is a photo of the church, a mainly newer building, standing proudly on the site where one was built all those years ago.
