Quiet!
We have had a houseful of adults, children and dogs over the weekend. It has been wonderful having the family here and we have had lots of fun. The house now feels . . . strangely quiet and empty!
The book that the three were reading yesterday was a Quentin Blake book - Clown. It's a delightful book and one I would recommend to anyone with links with children of any age. It's a book to share, as it has some amazingly detailed pictures in Blake's inimitable style, but has no words. So the 'readers' have to tell the story themselves. I have shared this book a few times with one or both of the grandchildren, but yesterday they took it to their Auntie and the two of them proceeded to take a page each and tell the story in their own words. Everyone around became mesmerised by the amazing storytelling coming from the four year old and six year old. The detail they were reading into the pictures, the emotions, plot and dialogue were stunning. That's what I was trying to capture in the picture.
