Solent Fog
Early this morning the shipping lanes of the Solent between the Isle of Wight and Southampton were covered in a thick fog which was slowly dispersing as the sun gained in height. As the ships and yachts negotiated the shifting visibility a cacophony of foghorns could be heard for miles around.
Above the fog the ghostly tall chimneys of the Fawley Oil Refinery seemed to be suspended in mid air.
Within an hour of my arrival and after taking many pictures making a blip selection difficult the sun rose into a clear blue sky heralding the hottest day of the year so far, to the relief I guess of all the Bank Holiday visitors.
