Shuttering

Today they fitted this frame and tomorrow they will pour some concert into it. This will act to shore up the garden wall behind it, which is over 200 years old.

All this concrete is a bit worrying, it has a gigantic CO2 footprint, and is mostly not recycled - it makes modern construction quick and cheaper but it comes with a heavy environmental price...!
