A Secret Garden

I had a quick peek up into the Japanese Garden as I was doing the signage rounds . it's a bit of an anomaly set in a fold of the Eskdale valley. Over the past few years it has been in bad need of re-furbishment and this year the larches infected by phytophtera around its periphery have all been felled and so it is officially closed. However, it is not abandoned and plans are going forward to re-plant and re-landscape it in a sensitive manner. Horticulturalists have been in and identified the rare and valuable shrubs and trees and hopefully there will be a good community input as well.
In the meantime it has that timeless appeal of gardens existing on the brink, their formal outlines softened, paths a little overgrown but still showing a glory of colour to brighten the days before winter.
