Mallard Hen
I went to the park to watch the river ducks this afternoon. There were far fewer birds on the river bank today compared to my last visit about two weeks ago. I suspect that most of the flock has already migrated, but these few remaining ducks are so well fed by humans they are reluctant to give up a good thing. This Mallard hen (Anas platyrhynchos) stood out because of her vivid blue wing feathers, and the unusual olive color of her bill.
