Julie & Jennifer
Started today off by going to meet w/Justyna at Uncommon Ground, but.... she never showed. Normally getting stood up for lunch isn't the best way to start a day, however, I had a feeling this might happen since my 'hey are we still on for noon,' text failed to yield a response. No worries, I brought an issue of psychology today to read. I sat outside in the sun the whole time which was great and the food as usual was amazing. I finally got to order off their Brunch Menu, which was a nice change up (since I normally only come here for dinner). As a bonus by eating alone the bill was only like $12.85!
Anyways, went to work, did some personal stuff for an hour or so then I was off to Yorktown to meet Julie & Jennifer for dinner. I picked a new place called Brio Tuscan Grille, it was really good. I'd go back, but there are so many new places around there that I think I'd want to try them first.
Anyways, it was great talking to them. I used to go to lunch just about everyday w/them when we worked together, now we're lucky if we see each other 4 times a year. Julie is married and Jennifer is a 1st grade teacher now so what can you do. I was talking about it w/Julie and just realized that I've known her for almost 7 years. I was really surprised doesn't seem that long at all.
Oh yeah one more thing, I was at the bus stop and this old gentleman tried to ask a woman w/a baby carriage a simple question, but she just shrugged him off like he was a homeless person harassing her for change. I seriously wanted to smack her, the disrespect she showed this poor old man was absolutely appalling. I asked him what he needed and all he wanted to know is if Dunkin Doughnuts was across the street because he wanted to make sure he was at the right bus stop. He had just finished his shift as a parking lot attendant and was trying to make his way home, but had left his glasses behind so he couldn't see that well.
I wonder if this is a new breed of people who think they're so superior that can't show anyone common decency. A fair majority of bicyclists have already adopted this mentality, hopefully new mom's making the tough trip to CB2 don't join the club.
