Our friends from Switzerland, whose place in Gran Canaria we regularly stay in, are making their annual visit to Ireland, mainly for the Wexford Festival. Part of the tradition is that we choose somewhere for a meal. This year we chose House on Leeson Street. It's a fine venue, quite unique in terms of layout and décor, and has been reimagined following the pandemic. What was previously a large drinks-only courtyard is now the place's main dining space. Pre-Covid this space would be packed with the after-work crowd, most of whom would be standing. Now it's seating only — and all the better for it.
Our friends were very, very impressed. What I assume is the Manager/Maitre d' is a wonderful meeter-and-greeter, who really came into his own at the end of the night when he rescued a difficult service situation with aplomb. We had a great night. Excellent food, great chat, wonderful camaraderie.
The blip? That's a corner of the gents toilet. Posh, huh?
