Stone Street

I actually got out for a stroll at lunchtime. This is the second narrowest street in England, 28 inches wide if you’re interested.

It has been on maps since medieval times, it used to be wider and lead to a windmill. Inevitably the area got built up over the years, but as it is still legally classed as a public highway, it had to remain passable. Hence it’s officially designated a ‘street’ not an ‘alley’.

Seeing as nobody asked, the narrowest street is 3” slimmer and in Exeter.
