May Madness
MrsB doesn't really do winter walking - its normally far to cold for her to find it enjoyable. This is always a bit of a shame as the highlands in winter can be so amazingly beautiful. So with the weather clearly warming up recently we thought a May Day weekend trip to Glen Affric would be a good opportunity to kick off this years hill walking season. How wrong were we! The Friday snow fall was a wee bit more than a dusting on the summits. Still we made a valiant effort to climb Sgurr nan Ceathramhnan on the north side of the Glen, only getting turned away a short distance from the summit as the snow pack hardened into tough Neve - not the sort the conditions to do without crampons or an ice axe!
Still on a positive note MrsB really enjoyed the winter wonderland - will have to get some her some crampons for next winter!!
