Wildlife corridor

I had a hospital appointment this morning at the Western General and decided to walk as a contribution to getting my BP down. It was a lovely morning, dry and sunny though a bit cold, I needed a fleece. Walked mostly along the old railway path and saw a squirrel on the way there but didn't have time to stop and blip it. Got all these shots on the way back - I particularly liked the graffiti under the Telford Road bridge - this is just part of it.

This old railway route has for years been a safe haven for wildlife, pedestrians and cyclists. The trams in Edinburgh (TIE) designated it as section 1B of the proposed network and this was approved in the face of stiff oppostion from local and environmental groups. It's now not clear if it's going ahead or not - we hope not - as the route will be of little use to anyone unless you work at the Scottish Executive or want to shop in Ocean Terminal. If it goes ahead it will cost 87 million pounds (today's estimate!)

The graffiti on the graffiti says 'End London rule Scottish not British'. The rest of this set (including several more graffiti pics) and my alternative blip for today are on Flickr.
