Upgrade

This area of Niassa is not somewhere we are currently active, but we are here to meet contacts and understand if there is anything we can lend our support to. We had been alerted previously that one of the communities in the conservation area is understandably angry about the recent death of a farmer from a lion and the lack of response by the resident operator with the mandate to manage the area. There is never a silver bullet solution to high human-wildlife conflict, but one idea is for us to fund a position to help bridge the gap in what has become a communication breakdown between stakeholders, and at least ensure everyone is better placed to respond quickly (in terms of medical, financial and technical help) when incidents happen and in their aftermath.

A restaurant we visited later had CNN streaming on a TV, with coverage of UK political turmoil. My colleague asked what was going on in my country. Good question pal.

Truss has been seen off, thankfully. The best thing the country can now do is continue to raise merry hell for the Conservatives to make their government untenable whoever is the leader. They would be deranged to call a general election themselves so the public has to keep the pressure up and make it happen.

In these remote areas of remote provinces, there is always a quest for improved roads and other infrastructure. This board is announcing the upgrade between two remote communities.
