Mountain reflections

When we woke up this morning it was misty with low cloud covering the mountains. I woke up so early with the bird song, I cannot break the 5am habit at the moment.

After breakfast we wandered around the hotel grounds and I took photos of the beautiful Jacaranda trees which are blooming at the moment. There is a very good children's playground area too, and I took some photos of my niece and her family - see extras. By now the sun had come out and it was very warm, so we had to change into shorts and T shirts again.

In the afternoon we went for a walk to Jarred Lake, where there were beautiful reflections in the lake. You can see The Bell in the distance, with Cathedral Peak to the right of it. This hotel is named after that peak which is very high at 3004m above sea level. When we walked back to the hotel we met two runners who had just completed The Bell traverse, 9 hours of running, 30km with an ascent of 1900m - rather extreme fell running I think! The previous day they had run up to Cathedral Peak!

Sadly tonight is our last night, and tomorrow after breakfast we will drive to Johannesburg to the airport to get the flight home again. As our location is almost halfway between Durban and Johannesburg it did not make sense to drive back to Durban to then fly from Durban to Johannesburg to get the flight to London. It will be very sad to say goodbye but we will be back next summer.
