Holidays? Yeah right

I love 'holidays'. You know the kind where they shut the schools and nurseries, the playgroups, and those lucky enough to have work schedules tuned into the school calendar all take off leaving play dates impossible.

Love those.

We don't have them. Holidays that is. Bank holidays are for other people. For us it means Daddy working and me trying to invent ways of entertaining small males.

School holidays are even more fun. I work full time in those ... we live crazy in this family :)

Fortunately, our boys are now spending more time playing together or at least in the same vicinity. There are fights and giggles in equal measure. I know in the future will come a time when the bedroom door is shut to us parents and we just have to wonder the details of their imaginary world.

I know that, but yet still often wish I could magic myself forward a few years. Just for a day. Or backwards. I want my kids to be babies one day, teenagers the next, ten year olds, then coming back from Uni to visit. But we don't get the easy 'tapas' option of parenting do we? Nope. We get the full meal. Sometimes it gives me heartburn even though I appreciate the amazing flavours.
