Common Enchantments

Unexpected sight

Holly and I had to stay close to home today since it was misting rain and we did not want to get caught out hiking if it decided to pour down.   So I drove to Dreher Island State Park for a drive through and a short walk.  I was expecting to maybe see a heron or possibly some ducks but on the beach at the end of the little board walk were four killdeer.  So happy to have the SX60 to zoom in!     The bald cypress there were just gorgeous in their orange leaves.  As we were leaving there was the heron standing on a berm at the water.     See the extra.

Then we drove over to the Peak Passage of the Palmetto Trail and walked for 2 miles before we decided it was time to get back home.

.A great seafood lunch (thanks Holly!) and then we walked along Lexington's Main Street to snap photos of the scarecrow decorations.  There were some really well done exhibits.   I might see how to show those for Halloween tomorrow!

A good day even with the damp and chilly air!
