Family portrait

The swan family had taken to the water when I stopped at the artificial island on my way to the sanctuary this afternoon. The 8th egg lay abandoned in the nest and I couldn't help wonder whether the swans had left because they knew that it wasn't going to hatch anymore.

A Heron was also visiting the island and would probably have become today's blip if I hadn't been happy with any of the shots I'd taken of the swans and their cygnets. As it was, I ended up having to choose between several that I was rather pleased with. Eventually I chose this one of the entire family even though I thought a few of the other photos with only one of the parents and the cygnets in the frame were better.

I was busy until 2am last night finishing the folders that I was going to take with me to the meeting on Wednesday morning. This morning I received a letter that it has been postponed until the morning of the 27th May but for some strange reason I haven't been able to feel less stressed about it yet though!

Thank you for all the lovely comments and stars on yesterday's blip. My cockatiel hasn't laid another egg yet. She's not sitting on the egg that she has laid, but has only pushed it around a little and has ignored it the rest of the day.
