In pursuit

The Dunnock has spotted something in the grass and is intent on catching it.

We seem to have had some drama in the backgarden at some stage either late yesterday or early this morning.  The feathers from one of the fat pigeons lying on the lawn are all that is left of it.  It has all the marks of a sparrowhawk kill, but given the lack of the rest of the corpse I'm guessing that the drama took place yesterday evening when I was out taking pictures of the kestrel.  I'm very happy with yesterday's kestrel shot, but I'd have loved to see the sparrowhawk too.  We're never satisfied are we? :-)
