We went to visit Dad this morning to check he is ok before his day surgery tomorrow. He is rather nervous, naturally.

No 1 son joined us for lunch and then this afternoon we went out to source a belated birthday present for him. He wanted a large plant for his flat and we managed to get him something (calathea medallion) he liked, together with a big furry throw to help ward off the energy price hike.

We are going out for dinner this evening locally. During our drives around the area today we saw lots of building works connected with HS2. I wonder if that project will survive the cost of living crisis’.
