Cloudage

Today we took our tax exemption notification for our car to the VRT office - despite leaving it quite late, partly because we were waiting (in vain) for a return phone call from our surveyor, we were there before they opened at 5pm (odd time, I know, not sure of the reason).

So we trotted across the road to Iceland, and found things in there we have been unable to source elsewhere - pickled red cabbage, multipacks of Doritos.

The weather has been showery all day, and we were treated to another shower and some rather nice cloudage as we emerged.

Having waited around until 5pm, quite quickly, and at the cost of just €11.20 for our tyres (a tax that is meant to be a contribution to the disposal of worn out tyres) we were allocated an Irish registration - 192 (car was first registered in the second half of 2019) G (Galway) **** (4 figure number that we'll need to learn - I've only JUST mastered my new Irish phone number!).  Weyhey - one step finally surmounted!  A couple of minor sub-steps still to go.  We'll visit Halfords, or somewhere similar, tomorrow to get the new plates made and fitted.  And I'll need to tackle the insurance company to get a new insurance certificate in the NEW registration.  And I'll have to navigate the online Irish vehicle tax system.

Really feeling the lost hour in the evening - it was fully dark long before gin time this evening!
