Talkin Tarn Bird Observatory

The signs pointing to this old boat house always amuse me.  Bird hide or even old boat house would be more truthful, a bird observatory is a specific place for scientific study and migration study.  The old boathouse is a suitable place to see the waterfowl but it isn't an observatory.

With the threat of power cuts this winter we felt it would be sensible to have the generator serviced.  So on the 19th we took it up to the man who we use for our garden machinery.  Visits to Sheffield and a few other things have prevented us picking it up until today.

The autumn colour was looking good.  and the view across the tarn caught my eye.  Influenced I admit by their promotion of the boathouse from bird hide to bird observatory.  For an early November day the weather was very pleasant and we enjoyed a stroll round the tarn, stopping often for me to try to identify various fungi.  The Candlesnuff fungus was the only one I was certain of.
