Straw Bale Gardening

In my quest to find ever easier and more successful gardening, I am now trying this: Buy straw bales (don't ask about the cost at our local urban gardening store), let age in rain for awhile, then dig down into them to plant starts or seeds. Water and feed as usual and hope for the best.
