jeni and the beans

Just like Daddy

Bean: 4yrs 6mths 13days
Bear: 1yr 5mths 11days

All three of my boys, each with their own hammer, helping re-build the shed which is now at the bottom of the garden (a FAR more sensible place).

Bean was entrusted with a panel pin hammer today, and managed to hammer in several nails all the himself - including straightening them up, having watched how daddy did it. We'll get on to technique another day!!

Of course Bear wanted to join in so I found the toy hammer and he had a go at hammering nails too. And walls. And daddy I think at one point (he got a bit carried away...)

So the shed has been emptied, dismantled and moved; and at close of play was erected in its new home but without a lid. Weather forecast is good at least tonight and tomorrow so all the stuff to go back in should be ok overnight!!

It's pretty good being able to see the garden from the kitchen window. I love that I can now keep an eye on the climbing frame and the playhouse, and generally enjoy a view of the garden rather than a shed.

The boys and I have struggled though. Not having free reign of the garden has been tough. Too many tools - Bear discovered how to unlock the drill, thankfully it just had a screwdriver bit in rather than a sharp drill bit but he is getting far too clever. Bean was desperate to help. He found his tape measure and measured up the playhouse (like he watched daddy do with the shed) then found tools and pretended to dismantle the playhouse :)

Bear I suspect is going to pick up tool handling far quicker and sooner than Bean because as well as watching daddy fix things up he also has Bean to watch - and his current motto is "anything Bean can do I can do too."

Even when he can't. His nose and tummy and head are testament to that (again) but you have to admire the boy's persistance.

He went to bed sick though, almost out of the blue after dinner he started being sick and has gone to bed on a towel on our bed. Poor kid. No idea where that's come from although I wonder if he hit his tummy on one of his tumbles today.

I've started a new blog specifically to journal life as unschoolers - pop over if you like!
