Diary of an Edinburgher

Two gorgeous wee things…

A dry morning, so I took Archie out for a walk. We came upon this original Mini Cooper. It looks like a toy, but what a gorgeous wee thing it is.

But rain was promised for the afternoon, and it arrived. In bucketloads. And so it was a perfect afternoon for the movies. Our long established ‘Filmhouse’ cinema closed suddenly last month, sadly - it was so handy for us, only a few bus stops away.

We decided to go and try the new Everyman Cinema in the St James Quarter. I spotted that it does a ‘Silver Screen’ showing, at the same (cheaper) price as our other older, less comfy local cinema.

We left Archie with his bone, and Abi popped round to collect him after her hair appointment. We got there without getting too wet, and went to purchase our tickets.

Sorry, there’s no film. The projector has broken down’ was the unexpected response.

The cinema is all very hi-tech, so it’s a matter of re-writing the ‘projector’ software, which takes ages. She suggested three other films, two of which starred Harry Styles, so we decided to abandon the idea. Though she gave us the free coffees that come with the tickets (which we didn’t have). Despite the godawful loud screechy yelly rock muzak (we were the only people there) we managed to finish our coffees before escaping.

So while we were in the shopping centre, out of the rain, JR suggested we pop into her favourite shop for a browse (JL). And the peace and quiet there is just wonderful, with their ‘no muzak’ policy. The staff must really appreciate it, what with the Christmas song loops starting up in every other establishment in town.

Home using a couple of buses. After 20-odd years, we’ve just twigged to this…

PS Archie is snoring in his new bed! First time!!
