The Flappit
Just over the hill from Maison MD is a pub with an unusual name - 'The Flappit' - and its address is Flappit Springs, Cullingworth.
The water from the springs was used in the process of tanning hides. This process was known as flaying and was carried out in 'Flay Pits' just across the road - hence the name Flappit.
The pub sign shows a drawing of the process.
