The Kingfisher.
Two members of Pudsey Ramblers were married last week, and they invited us all to a celebratory lunch at the Fox and Hounds, Bramhope, Leeds.
They both met when S joined the club eleven years ago. On the first walk he cut his finger on some barbed wire, and M came to the rescue with a plaster. The rest as they say is history!
It is lovely to have a something to celebrate and we wish them every happiness in the future.
Needless to say a good time was had by all.
As it is nearby, we decided to visit Golden Acre Park and Adel Dam in the morning. Lovely sunshine although cooler.
Yorkshire Wild Life Trust look after the nature reserve and were awarded £ 70,000 from BIFFA to undertake some vital upgrading work. This was in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022.
My photo shows the new entrance welcome shelter, and a beautiful carved sculpture of a kingfisher which is one of the birds we often see here. Unfortunately not today. In fact it was very quiet in the woods and on the dam itself. Only a couple of swans, two mallards, two moorhens, and some little grebes.
Maybe better luck next time.
