Pieta
We popped out for a spot of shopping and somehow ended up in a very nice cafe we hadn't tried yet. Centenary Lounge at The Cross in Worcester is part of a small chain with other cafes at Moor Street, Birmingham and the station Leamington Spa. Celebrating the centennial opening of the GWR railway station, the decor is art deco influenced and the coffee very good. I've put a photo I took whilst the cafe was empty of customers in the extras.
After lunch we took a walk along the towpath and ended up at the cathedral. Unfortunately Worcester University is having a graduation day, as they did yesterday and possibly tomorrow, and half the cathedral was closed off to be used for the presentations of certificates. The crypt was open so we went down there for a nose around.
There is a statue, Pieta by Glynn Williams "Donated to commemorate the contribution of 40 artists to the Restoration of Worcester Cathedral 1991". I thought it may be the basis for a photo for today's Abstract Thursday hosted by Ingeborg.
