River Medway at Barming
Heavy rain overnight and most of this morning led to some flooding in the usual spots in the area and prevented us doing much until this afternoon.
Susan had an appointment at the hospital and Barbara and David went to see Doreen for a WhatsApp session with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
After the hospital appointment we walked down to the Medway at Barming intending to walk along the towpath to Lower Fant. As you can see the river was high and turbid, full of topsoil washed off fields.
We couldn’t get any further than the lock at East Farleigh as beyond there was a section of path where the river had spilled over. As it was the water was overtopping the lock gates.
We returned the way we came, finding a footpath up out of the valley and back to the car. A terrible journey home, traffic is getting worse. Not aided by those flooded roads diverting drivers onto the main roads
