Putting a stamp on it

I have been clearing out all through October but it is becoming a habit and areas of abandonment are still being tackled!!  My flap top desk being the object of todays clearance.  Well, what do you know.. I found a heap of ancient stamps!!  The top ones priced at 18p were the 1st class stamp of their day.. 1986 !!  I am taken by the vegetable ones again! Youj can put funny faces on them and they date from 2003!  I know that if they are marked 1st or 2nd they are still honoured and are therefore useable still but the 18 and 13p ones are probably not.  However, things are a changing and I have discovered that from Jan 31st 2023 the post office will no longer accept these stamps and a surcharge for the receiver will ensue. You have been WARNED!!  They are carrying out a swap up until then and if you take them to the post office they will change them for new ones apparently.. so, either I had better get sending some letters or get them swapped for new.. it is likely I won't write that many letters before Jan 31st!  Perhaps I can use them for Christmas cards.. I also found a lot of those left over cards in the drawers.. so, no need to buy them this year either.. What a bonus!  instead I will donate some money to charities as I know cards have been a reasonable income for them even though so few people seem to send them these days.
The sun is shining.. hurrah!  I need to go to a hardware shop to buy undercoat and primer for my upcycling project.. I really must get it finished soon and I want to paint it before it is put together for the final time and blipped!
