Mostar bridge

We arrived at Dubrovnik airport and headed for Split, taking a detour into Bosnisa to see the reconstructed bridge in Mostar, the original one having been destroyed in the war in 1993. It's amazing to think that less than 20 years ago this region was war ravaged. It certainly felt a world away whilst we were wandering round the busy, tourist packed streets, eating an ice cream (which, incidentally, cost us just 18p each and were lovely), but if you look more closely the signs (bullet and mortar damage, cemeteries full of graves from 1993 etc.) are still there. I'm glad we took the opportunity to go.
