Lightning and fireworks

We had a great night at Mike and Gerda’s who have family visiting following Mike giving everyone a scare after he suddenly required a quintuple bypass. He was recovering well when he developed a detached retina, and two months later he was diagnosed with diabetes.

He is doing better now, back playing squash, running, and playing tennis. He is originally from Nottingham and they clearly make them tough.

We were treated to a spit braai, with a great selection of veg to go with the three different meats.

Their home is set high on the side of Northcliff hill so we had a good view of the flashes of lightning followed by the occasional firework.

What a great night!
