Cairistiona

Coptic churches, synagogues, mosques and bazaars.

Last full day in Cairo. Saw three key religious buildings and the Citadel before heading to the bazaar for a lunch of felafel made from broad beans, baba ganoush, tahini, salad, pickles, Egyptian bread and the tenderest lamb.

Was singled out by the local cats for attention and one daring little soul pinched the bones from my plate. The man tried out a water pipe with watermelon tobacco and we all chilled in the heat of the afternoon sun.

Followed it up with a walk around he bazaar to see the monuments in Old Cairo and then back to the hotel.

Sad to be leaving tomorrow. Mohammed has been an absolute star showing us around and making us feel very, very welcome. We will be back some day. However, for now, Alexandria and the Mediterranean awaits.
