An all action morning on the bird rescue front today - three incidents before we had even time for a coffee!

Waking this morning just after sunrise I found a Great Tit circling the bedroom like a whiling dervish so quickly swung into bird rescue mode. Chasing it down the hall shutting doors on the way, I felt like a traffic officer signalling to give it a bit of direction. It soon shot outside without mishap.

Hubs then had a swallow rescue scenario going. One came into the office through the Velux windows while he was on the phone to a client. Apparently he was ducking and diving while maintaining a very business like voice as the swallow weaved and circled over his head. Who says men can't multitask?

Only an hour later I looked up to the window and saw yet another swallow trying in vain to get out - battering itself against the glass. I hot footed it upstairs to let him out but also too grabbed the camera for a quick swallow shot.

Love this little Holly Blue butterfly flitting around this afternoon. I think this is a male as it hasn't got the broader dark band on the edge of the forewing. One characteristic of blues is that they rest head-down, which this is, on the quince bush! However true to their name they feed on holly buds which we do have here.

Out to yoga tonight... not too enthusiastic really when the weather is so fabulous.
