Going with the grain...
I have always had a fascination for trees and for wood grain. This wooden seat caught my eye this morning when walking at Barns Ness. There used to be three seats like this alongside one another but two of them are long gone as their single column supports have rotted away. They are on the edge of the dunes looking out to sea. They have always been slightly too high to sit on comfortably but they are useful to rest against when feeling weary. My neighbour, who was with me, has difficulty walking and was pleased to rest there awhile this morning. Mind you there was plenty of disincentive from sitting on it properly as it had been well and truly divebombed by gulls and was thick with bird droppings at the back. Still I have tried to focus your attention in my blip, not so much on their utilitarian role, but on the lovely swirly wood grain which has been enhanced by years of weathering.
