Skep

Our friend Mike has an old couple he gardens for, and he asked me if I would like to take their remaining honeybee colony as they don’t feel able to look after it.
Today we went to meet them and have a look at the hive. There were bees coming and going, although it doesn’t look like a very big colony. Anyway, we will try to collect it later this week. Watch this space.
They had all the equipment of course, and gave me some new wax, and this lovely skep, hand made by Jim. It’s used for collecting stray swarms, and much nicer than a cardboard box! I will treasure it!
