I decided it was time...

... for a visit to RHS Harlow Carr Gardens this morning. I haven't been there for about a month (and often enjoy short visits 2 or 3 times in a week).

I had been in the bird hide for less than 5 minutes when this woodpecker made a fleeting visit.

It also turned out to be a good time to photograph autumnal colours (as in my extra) because the slightly overcast sky provided fewer unmanageable highlights on shining leaves.
